ARE THERE DIFFERENT TYPES OF TECHNOLOGIES FOR FAT LOSS?

Though many companies and technologies currently on the market offer claims of inch-loss success, few have proven results to substantiate these claims.

It is easy to get confused attempting to understand what actually works.

We did the work for you so you can make an educated decision on what treatment is right for you.

Below you will find 11 different methods of fat loss currently in the market place.

# 1) Patented NEW Cold Level Laser Lipo - Available at Slim U Canada

Slim U CanadaWe are so confident that you will experience AMAZING RESULTS
- that we offer a GUARANTEE PROGRAM of 6 INCHES
(in the area of the abdominal)

* This NEW Technology Provides the Highest And Most Consistent Power Output providing unprecedented results.

Typical results have proven to be substantially more effective and consistent, as the patent direct skin application allows for the focused delivery.

A recently patented direct skin contact delivery system.  The cold level laser clearly demonstrates a more robust fabrication and quality components. This is apparent in the metal connectors, the lens-covered, high quality diodes.

Furthermore, its direct skin application allows for the focused delivery of cold laser energy to specific treatment areas as well as deeper penetration leading to targeted and more effective treatment results.

FDA approved and Health Canada licensed, the NEW patented Laser Lipo, is the latest solution for achieving Inch Loss, representing the most innovative treatment available on the market
and is the ONE and ONLY original Cold Level Laser assisted, non-invasive, highly effective,
FDA cleared and internationally patented Body Contouring medical device.
It is now the ONLY GOLD STANDARD medical device that delivers laser-assisted inch loss and quality body sculpting. A strong contender in this market.

This NEW technology is a holistic, healthy approach to fat loss and body contouring.
The laser process is similar to the effects exercise has on fat cells, only instead of hormones opening the fat cells, the cold laser does the job, right through your skin (patented direct skin application/contact delivery system). The same triglycerides are removed from the fat cells and, as a result, the fat cells “shrink” significantly in size and get smaller, resulting in inch / fat loss.

# 2) COOL SCULPTING  FAT FREEZING BY ZELTIQ

On average, the fat cells that are destroyed result in an average 1.5 - 3 inches reduction in waist size.
Some results are seen in 3 to 4 weeks after the procedure, 70% results in 7 to 8 weeks and 100% results in
4 to 5 months. The fat cells that are killed during the Zeltiq's CoolSculpting freezing do not grow back.
But not all fat cells die and if you gain weight then the fat will have some place to go, both in the area treated and non-treated areas.

An interesting element of Cool Sculpting is that once the targeted fat cells are destroyed, they don't return.
If you gain weight down the road, where will the fat go?
Unfortunately there is no one answer to this question.  After doing Coolsculpting, whether it be once or multiple times, some fat cells will undoubtedly remain in a given area.
If a patient gains weight following a procedure it can certainly still "show up" in the area  that was treated
or perhaps it may collect more easily in another area such as your face, thighs, or backside.

CoolSculpting involves the use of a small or large (or both, depending on which areas are being treated) paddle-like applicator attached to a hose that provides the cold. Regardless of size, each device has 2 panels with 3,000 sensors per side. A gel pad to help protect your skin is placed over the area being treated, and then the Cool Sculpting device is applied and powered up. Once on, the applicator securely pulls up the area being treated between the two panels where it remains for the duration of the treatment. After a few minutes, one begins to feel intense cold. In may cases the cold rush is accompanied by stinging, tingling, aching, or a cramping sensation. This is normal and will lessen as the area becomes numb. Not surprisingly, this area will be tender and one will feel a slight stinging or a sensation of cramping. One may also see a temporary whitening or reddening of the treated area, which may also feel stiff.

More than one treatment can be used, but the results of the second treatment are not as dramatic as the first.

During the procedure you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, and mild pinching.
You may also feel intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping—sensations that subside as the treatment area becomes numb.  Immediately after treatment, there may be redness and firmness; transient blanching and/or mild bruising around the edges of the treatment area; tingling and stinging.
Typically, these side effects are temporary and resolve completely. Many patients do experience redness in the treated areas for up to a few hours after the applicator is removed.

In rare cases, this redness may persist up to 2 weeks, but it will completely resolve itself.
At 1 to 2 weeks after treatment, there may be redness, bruising, and swelling; tenderness, cramping, and aching; itching, skin sensitivity, tingling, and numbness. In some cases, numbness may persist for several weeks after a treatment. Talk to your doctor if these side effects persist past 2 weeks or worsen over time.

This is not a miracle, the coolsculpt procedure destroys bulges of fat, and is NOT a solution to weight gain.
If you overeat and/or under exercise you can gain weight, therefore the weight gain after Cool sculpting is more likely to be visible in areas where more fat cells exist.

Sadly, Cool Sculpting does NOT work to improve cellulite. This stands to reason because cellulite is not so much about the accumulation of fat, but rather about how the fat gets deposited in the underlying support structure of skin on the thighs of women.
The Cool Sculpting procedure is not for everyone.Cool sculpting, in simplest terms, is a non-invasive procedure/treatment that actually freezes fat cells that causes them to die and progressively be washed off by the body.
Cool sculpting will eliminate approximately 20% of the fat cells in the treated area.
However, if you gain weight, the remaining fat cells in the area will enlarge.
Some results are seen in 3 to 4 weeks after the procedure, 70% results in 7 to 8 weeks and 100% results in
4 to 5 months

Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary numbness, redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging and pain. Rare side effects may also occur.

Rare side effects of coolsculpting include:

  • Paradoxical hyperplasia: Visibly enlarged tissue volume within the treatment area, which may develop 2 to 5 months after treatment. Surgical intervention may be required.
  • Late-onset pain with a typical onset several days after a treatment and resolution within several weeks.
  • Freeze burn: First- and second-degree freeze burn may occur during treatment. It typically resolves without sequelae with proper care.
  • Vasovagal symptoms: Dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, flushing, sweating, or fainting during or immediately after the treatment.
  • Subcutaneous induration: Generalized hardness and/or discrete nodules within the treatment area, which may develop after the treatment and may present with pain and/or discomfort.
  • Hyperpigmentation: Hyperpigmentation may occur after treatment. Typically, it resolves spontaneously.
  • Hernia: Treatment may cause new hernia formation or exacerbate pre existing hernia, which may require surgical repair.

# 3) I-LIPO

Slim U Canada* Third-party testing and analysis of a relative newcomer to the non-invasive body contouring marketplace has revealed problematic technology and flawed apparatus.
The “i-Lipo” reduction system by Chromogenix Technologies Ltd. was proven to be replete with construction issues that resulted in inadequate performance.

* The decrease in price of this “antiquatedly” designed unit comes at a manufacturing cost. For starters, the machines are poorly powered using an RJ45 connector (or phone jacks) instead of a more robust power cable source. Yet another evident flaw of the system is that the diode lasers are not shielded by a lens or aperture, leaving the lasers exposed to environmental pollutants such as dust and aerosols. Furthermore, it allows for deposits on the facets of the diode, which in turn leads to absorption of radiation, localized heating, and destruction of the diodes.

Technology issues translate into performance issues once the machine is switched on. The i-Lipo provides an insufficient heat transfer and allows for heat losses so apparent that ambient (external) temperatures affect the performance of the equipment during treatment.
Insufficient power sources, compromised diode technology and inadequate construction can only mean disappointing results. With inconsistent, under powered application, the i-Lipo device does little but
cast doubts on the legitimacy of it's ability and deliver the results patients have come to expect.

# 4) ULTRA SHAPE  (Ultrasound Cavitation)   1 - 3 inches in six weeks.
This uses ultrasound treatment that heats the fat cells until they die and these dead fat cells are slowly removed from the body's natural processes over a period of weeks.   This procedure is painful and doesn’t work on large fat deposits so it won’t help you lose belly fat. That’s because it breaks down the fat but the body has to process the melted fat cells. Second, you can’t treat fat that is located under scar tissue or tattoos. And third, you’re supposed to maintain a negative calorie intake for four days after treatment to make sure the released fat is properly processed by your body. The treatment is primarily designed for patients who are normal to slightly overweight and have a body mass index (BMI) of less than 30.   Patients with extensive, non-localized fat are not suitable for this technique. The ideal candidates are people who are committed to a healthy lifestyle. This is because in order to optimize the effects of the treatment patients need to maintain a regular exercise programme and have a healthy well-rounded diet.
After a series of three Ultrashape treatments, once every two weeks patients can expect between four and six centimeters (NOT inches) of circumferential fat reduction

  • Who is not a candidate for UltraShape? Persons with a high degree of skin laxity – UltraShape is not a skin tightening treatment thus excess skin laxity may not contract. Less than 1.5 cm of subcutaneous fat in the treatment area
  • If patients are to gain weight after their UltraShape® treatment program, the fat will go elsewhere, not to the areas that were treated.
  • It is not a treatment for: Weight loss, Obesity, Skin laxity, Cellulite

# 5) Liposonix  Studies demonstrated that on average, patients lost 1 inch in waist circumference. This means that some patients lost more, while others achieved less. Newer data indicate that most people, who are good candidates, lose at least one inch when stomach and flanks are treated with Liposonix. Regardless, one cannot guarantee this result; there are still patients who achieve less improvement despite excellence in treatment delivery.

It takes up to 4 months to see the difference. But later, if you gain weight, the fat cannot go to that body part again; it has to distribute itself elsewhere.
Ultrasonic liposuction isn’t recommended as a treatment for obesity.
It works by using a high intensity ultrasound to destroy any unwanted fat from just below the skin.
It is a painful procedure.  • Following Liposonix you may have temporary redness, mild bruising and swelling of the stomach area.
Women should be aware that Liposonix is not a treatment intended to reduce large amounts of fat or to help you lose weight, it is intended to re-sculpture the abdominal area.
The fat cells that are removed through the Liposonix treatment will not come back! Because adults have a limited number of fat cells, whatever is gone will not regenerate. However, the remaining fat cells still can expand and contract depending on many factors such as diet, exercise, genetics, age and medications.
This procedure probably isn’t the best for someone with an aversion to pain or someone who needs to lose 30 to 80 pounds.
This is mainly for toning and tightening targeted problem areas by making small tweaks.
You shouldn’t be any more than 10 pounds from your goal weight and you should only expect to lose a few stubborn inches from this procedure.
Removal of 10 to 20 percent of the fat, if patient gains weight, they can still gain weight in that area
Also, be advised, Liposonix Treatment can be very uncomfortable.
Liposonix have published studies showing modest fat reduction (1-2 cm around the waist, after several treatments)

# 6) IllumiWave 635 Lipo Sculpting Laser

Patients can expect a standard loss of  3 to 4 inches overall, after four to six weeks.
Non-invasive treatment. No bruising or scarring, little risk of tissue damage.
Patients are requested to adhere to a healthy diet including exercise under a regiment of 45 minutes,
3 times per week in conjunction with the laser treatments.

# 7) VELA SHAPE  is used to treat cellulite. It combines radio frequency energy, infrared light, mechanical rollers, and vacuum suction to heat and massage the shallow layers of fat that contribute to cellulite. Vela Shape is painful and not a permanent procedure. As soon as you quit using the device, cellulite may return,  resulting in getting follow-up treatments every one to three months. It may offer a temporary solution to the problem of cellulite however it doesn’t seem to offer any benefits for those who actually need to lose body fat.

# 8) LIPPODISSOLVE  The solution that is used in lipodissolve, or mesotherapy, injections is not approved by the FDA. There is not enough evidence showing that the injections are effective or safe.
It's a tempting premise: Get a series of drug injections and see pockets of fat on your body go away for good.
But the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is alerting consumers about false and misleading claims being made about products used in lipodissolve, and about other misbranding of these products.
Recipients of lipodissolve get a series of drug injections intended to dissolve and permanently remove small pockets of fat from various parts of the body. The process is also known as injection lipolysis, lipozap, lipotherapy, and mesotherapy.

What Consumers Should Know FDA is alerting consumers that

  • It has not evaluated or approved products for use in lipodissolve
  • it is not aware of evidence supporting the effectiveness of the substances used in lipodissolve for fat elimination
  • the safety of these substances, when used alone or in combination, is unknown
  • it is not aware of clinical studies to support medical uses of lipodissolve

In addition, FDA has reports of unexpected side effects in people who’ve undergone the lipodissolve procedure.
These side effects include

  • permanent scarring
  • skin deformation
  • deep, painful knots under the skin in areas where the lipodissolve treatments were injected

# 9) THERMAGE  Is NOT for fat loss, it obtained FDA approval for treatment of wrinkles around the eyes in 2002, facial wrinkles in 2004, and all body laxity and cellulite in 2005. Thermage uses monopolar radiofrequency energy to deliver an electrical current that generates heat through the inherent electrical resistance of dermal and subcutaneous tissue.
Thermage had been cleared for the "temporary improvement in the appearance of cellulite".
The problem is that the technology works for some people with minimal loose skin and wrinkles. It usually has to be combined with something else.
There is also concern that Thermage could make cellulite matters worse. One of the known adverse affects of Thermage is that it causes fat atrophy (recipients who have their face treated sometimes complain of shrunken cheeks, sunk temples and thinning skin).
The bottom line? Thermage for cellulite is unlikely to work, will hurt like hell and may even make your dimples more noticeable.

Are There Possible Side Effects?

  • Crusting of the skin (scabbing). Transient.
  • Acne. Treatable.
  • Herpes eruption. Treatable.
  • Pigmentary changes. Treatable.
  • Skin depression: usually transient (months). In the meantime it can be corrected by fillers if needed.
  • Transient tenderness or dysesthesia (abnormal sensation) or anesthesia (loss of sensation)

# 10) TUMMY TUCK  Invasive procedure..An abdominoplasty is a major surgical procedure, so expect to be out of action for a while. Some people return to work after two weeks, while others take three or four weeks to rest and recover. Bruising after the surgery is usually quite light but swelling is substantial and it can take up to three months to disappear.  Risks also include numbness of the abdominal skin and it may take several months for the sensation to return.
The surgery does produce a permanent scar which, depending on the extent of the procedure, may extend from hip to hip.
If you gain a lot of weight after a tummy tuck then the skin and subcutaneous tissue will stretch again.
If you lose weight again, the result of a tummy tuck will look worse.  In order to belly was flat, you need to maintain a stable weight after tummy tuck surgery.
Gaining weight after abdominoplasty is always a problem, as the fat and weight can go back into the abdomen or back.
Excessive weight gain can result in thickening of the abdominal region because of extra fat in the abdominal flap and intra-abdominal fat. With excessive weight gain, a new abdominal pannus, or drooping belly “pooch,” can develop.

# 11) LIPOSUCTION. This is an invasive procedure that melts and removes the fat cells which are vacuumed out through a probe that enters the body through an incision. It requires recovery time and is expensive, and sometimes results in   uneven contours, uneven texture, pain, and down time.

  • Liposuction and Fat Regain:Teri L. Hernandez and colleagues recently performed the first ever randomized liposuction study to answer this question (1).  Participants were randomly selected to either receive liposuction, or not.  They were all instructed not to make any lifestyle changes for the duration of the study, and body fatness was measured at 6 weeks, 6 months and one year by DXA.  At 6 weeks, the liposuction group was significantly leaner than the control group.
  • At 6 months, the difference between the two groups had decreased.  At one year, it had decreased further and the difference between the groups was no longer statistically significant.  Furthermore, the liposuction group regained fat disproportionately in the abdominal area (belly), which is more dangerous than where it was before.
  • Article: Fat Comes Back After Liposuction By Arthur Perry, MD, FACS
  • "But like a bad dream, that fat has a way of sneaking back into your body. By a year after surgery, most people who have liposuction of their thighs wind up with more fat in their bellies. And if it was the tummy that was suctioned, don’t be surprised to find chubbier arms and thighs a year later".

KILLING FAT CELLS through technology and Removal of fat cells through Liposuction: Why They Won't Work

  • Adults have a fixed number of fat cells that grow and shrink as weight increases or decreases. Overweight individuals generally don’t possess a greater number of adipocytes (fat cells); instead their fat cells grow larger than those in a typical human. When fat cells are removed from an adult, via liposuction or cryolipolysis (Cryolipolysis is a medical treatment used to destroy fat cells), the remaining fat cells eventually pick up the slack and grow larger
  • As a result, these treatments fix the problem only temporarily. The body continues producing and storing energy containing molecules in the surviving adipose (fat) cells.
  •  Immediate side effects of cryolipolysis and liposuction are: bruising, numbness, scarring, pain, and possibly skin necrosis, and infection.
  • Liposuction carries the unwanted side-effect of making other parts of a patient’s  body fatter , a study has found. One year after having liters of fat removed, those undergoing the procedure will effectively be back at square one in terms of  the amount of fat in  their body. However, the fat will not return to the areas of the body where it was removed from, usually the thighs, lower abdomen and buttocks. Instead it will reappear elsewhere, typically around the shoulders, arms and  upper abdomen, according to U.S. researchers.

Lap Band- Similar risks and cost to liposuction – but no guaranteed results, you still have to eat less and exercise

Gastric Bypass – Similar risks to liposuction – but you have to eat A LOT less, and if you don’t, you could literally die from over eating.

Dangerous Drugs- Again similar risk to liposuction - but even more possible side effects.

Gimmicky Supplements – We have seen the advertisements, read the newspaper ads, heard the radio jingles, but they all have one thing in common, no proven results.

Do you really want to kill your body's fat cells, when you can reduce their
size safely and effectively?

Though many companies and technologies currently on the market offer claims of inch-loss success, few have proven results to substantiate these claims.

The NEW patented Laser Lipo is one device that offers the science, the support and the results that have allowed it to emerge as a LEADER IN THIS MARKET.

Simply the best body contouring procedure available

Non-invasive Fat Loss
One percent of liposuction surgery patients experience serious consequences, including death. Why risk the complications of liposuction when you don’t have to?
Also, many liposuction patients regularly report having bumpy or lumpy skin when fat returns to a different section or the body, creating an abnormal body shape.
Unlike liposuction, Mesotherapy or other body contouring procedures, the non-invasiveLaser Lipo gives you the positive results you want without any negatives – no needles, no incisions, no anesthesia, no surgery,
no swelling, bruising or scarring, and it is absolutely pain-free. In as few as nine treatments, you can eliminate unwanted fat, for a slimmer, more youthful you. Of course, more treatments can result in even greater fat loss.

How is the Lipolaser Different from Competitor Fat Dissolving Devices?

The lipolaser does not kill your fat cells.  It simply collapses them.
Treatments which chill or dissolve your fat cells actually kill them.
